# Accessing Web Disks on Microsoft operating systems

> Learn to access Web Disks on Microsoft OS with compatible versions and step-by-step guidance.

This article describes how to access Web Disks using Microsoft operating systems.

## Accessing a Web Disk using Windows 8 or Windows 10

To access a Web Disk using Windows 8, follow these steps:

1. Start File Explorer, click **Computer**, and then click **Add a network location**. The Add Network Location Wizard appears.

2. Click **Next**.

3. Click **Choose a custom network location**, and then click **Next**.

4. In the **Internet or network address** text box, type `https://example.com:2078`, replacing ***example.com*** with the hosting.com server name for your account.

5. Click **Next**.

6. Type the username and password for the Web Disk account, and then click **OK**.
   > 👍 Tip
   >
   > To avoid retyping your username and password when you access the Web Disk, select the **Remember my credentials** check box.

7. If you want to the change the network place name, type the new name in the **Type a name for this network location** text box.

8. Click **Next**.

9. To access the Web Disk immediately, select the **Open this network location when I click Finish** check box.

10. Click **Finish**. The Web Disk home directory appears. You can now access your Web Disk at any time by starting File Explorer and expanding the **Network** folder.

## Accessing a Web Disk using Windows 7

To access a Web Disk using Windows 7, follow these steps:

1. From the Desktop, click the **Start** menu, and then click **Computer**.

2. Click **Map Network Drive**.

3. In the **Drive** list box, select the drive letter you want to use.

4. In the **Folder** text box, type `https://example.com:2078`, replacing ***example.com*** with the hosting.com server name for your account.

5. To automatically establish a connection to the Web Disk every time you log on to the computer, select the **Reconnect at logon** check box.

6. Click **Finish**.

7. When the **Windows Security** dialog box appears, type the username and password for the Web Disk account.
   > 👍 Tip
   >
   > To avoid retyping your username and password when you access the Web Disk, select the **Remember my credentials** check box.

8. Click **OK**. After Windows establishes a connection to the Web Disk account, it opens an Explorer window that shows the files.

## Accessing a Web Disk using Windows Vista

To access a Web Disk using Windows Vista, follow these steps:

1. From the Desktop, click the **Start** menu, and then click **Computer**.

2. Click **Map Network Drive**.

3. Click **Connect to a Web site that you can use to store your documents and pictures**. The Add Network Location wizard appears.

4. Click **Next**.

5. Click **Choose a custom network location**, and then click **Next**.

6. In the **Internet or network address** text box, type `https://example.com:2078`, replacing ***example.com*** with the hosting.com server name for your account.

7. Click **Next**.

8. Type the username and password for the Web Disk account, and then click **OK**.
   > 👍 Tip
   >
   > To avoid retyping your username and password when you access the Web Disk, select the **Remember my credentials** check box.

9. If you want to the change the network place name, type the new name in the **Type a name for this network location** text box.

10. Click **Next**.

11. To access the Web Disk immediately, select the **Open this network location when I click Finish** check box.

12. Click **Finish**. The Web Disk home directory appears. You can now access your Web Disk at any time by starting Windows Explorer and expanding the **Network** folder.

## Accessing a Web Disk using Windows XP, Windows 2003, or Windows 2000

To access a Web Disk using Windows XP, Windows 2003, or Windows 2000, follow these steps:

1. Go to **My Network Places**:

* If you are using Windows XP, click the **Start** menu on the Desktop, and then click **My Network Places**.

* If you are using Windows 2000 or Windows 2003, start Windows Explorer, and then click **My Network Places**.

2. Click **Add a network place**. The Add Network Place wizard appears.

3. Click **Next**.

4. Select **Choose another network location**, and then click **Next**.

5. In the **Internet or network address** text box, type `https://example.com:2078`, replacing ***example.com*** with the hosting.com server name for your account.

6. Click **Next**.

7. Type the username and password for the Web Disk account.

   > 👍 Tip
   >
   > To avoid retyping your password when you access the Web Disk, select the **Remember my password** check box.

8. Click **OK**.

9. If you want to change the network place name, type the new name in the text box.

10. Click **Next**.

11. Click **Finish**. The Web Disk home directory appears. You can now access your Web Disk at any time by going to My Network Places and opening the folder.

## Accessing a Web Disk using Windows 98

To access a Web Disk using Windows 98, follow these steps:

1. From the desktop, double-click **My Computer**.

2. Double-click **Web Folders**.

3. Double-click **Add Web Folder**. The Add Web Folder wizard appears.

4. In the **Type the location to add** text box, type `https://example.com:2078`, replacing ***example.com*** with the hosting.com server name for your account.

5. Click **Next**.

6. Type the username and password for the Web Disk account, and then click **OK**.

7. To change the Web Folder name, type the new name in the text box.

8. Click **Finish**. The Web Disk home directory appears.
