# Determining which data center hosts your account

> This article describes how to determine which data center hosts your account.

This article describes how to determine which data center hosts your account.

When you first sign up for an account, you select the data center that you want your account to use. (You usually want to choose a data center closer to your site visitors for better performance.) If you have multiple accounts, you might forget the data center for an account. Alternatively, you may just want to confirm that an account is using a particular data center. Either way, determining the data center is a straightforward process.

To do this, follow these steps:

1. Determine the server name for your account.

2. Look at the first two letters in the server name. These two letters indicate the account's data center:

* **az**: USA - Arizona (West Coast). For example, the *az1.ss100.a2hosting.com* server is in this data center.

* **mi**: USA - Michigan (East Coast). For example, the *mi3-ss21.a2hosting.com* server is in this data center.

* **nl**: Europe - Amsterdam, The Netherlands. For example, the *nl1-ss9.a2hosting.com* server is in this data center.

* **sg**: Asia - Singapore. For example, the *sg1-ls8.a2hosting.com* server is in this data center.
