# ECCN and HTS numbers for PostgreSQL

If you are exporting a product that uses PostgreSQL from the United States to another country, you may need the following information:

* **ECCN** (Export Control Classification Number)

* **HTS** (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) number

Unfortunately, there are no definitive guidelines for assigning an ECCN to PostgreSQL. Based on [this PostgreSQL forum post](http://www.postgresql.org/message-id/871wu25g7b.fsf@wolfe.cbbrowne.com), the ECCN number for PostgreSQL may be either [5A992 or 5D992](https://www.bis.doc.gov/index.php/forms-documents/doc_download/951-ccl5-pt2) as "mass market encryption" software.

Similarly, there are no definitive guidelines for assigning an HTS number to PostgreSQL. PostgreSQL would fall under the Other category of Computer Software, number 8524.99.4000.
