# Managing post tags in WordPress

> Learn how to manage tags in WordPress.

One of the tools you can use to group your posts based on similar content or categories is [WordPress](https://hosting.com/hosting/platforms/wordpress-hosting/managed-wordpress-hosting/) tags. Tags play an important role in organising your site's content, so try to use them as much as possible to make your site more user-friendly.In this post, we'll go over how to manage blog post tags on a WordPress site.

To manage tags in WordPress effectively, follow these steps:

1. Log in to your **WordPress** site with an administrator account.

2. On the Dashboard in the left sidebar, click **Posts**, and then click **Tags**:\

3. There are options to create and edit tags on the Tag settings page:\

4. Enter a name, a slug, and a description for a new tag, then click the **Add New Tag** button:\

5. To edit an existing tag, scroll down the list of tags or use the search option to find an existing tag:\

6. Hover on any tag, to see the option to edit or delete an existing WordPress tag:\
