</Tip>

## Migrating email

To migrate email from Microsoft 365 to hosting.com, follow these steps:

1. If you want to migrate existing Microsoft 365 email messages to hosting.com, then you must first back up the current email account data stored on the Microsoft 365 server.
   > 📘 Note
   >
   > * For information about how to back up email data, please visit [https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/back-up-your-email-e5845b0b-1aeb-424f-924c-aa1c33b18833](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/back-up-your-email-e5845b0b-1aeb-424f-924c-aa1c33b18833).
   >
   > * If you do not want or need to migrate existing messages, go directly to step 2.

2. Log in to cPanel.
   > 📘 Note
   >
   > If you do not know how to log in to your cPanel account, please see [this article](/docs/accessing-cpanel).

3. Create email accounts that match the account names you have on Microsoft 365. For example, if you have [a*kellykoe@example.com*](mailto:a_kellykoe@example.com_) account on Microsoft 365, then create an email account in cPanel [for*kellykoe@example.com*](mailto:for_kellykoe@example.com_) as well.

<Note>
  For information about how to create email accounts in cPanel, please see [this article](/docs/e-mail-accounts).
</Note>

4. Update the MX, SPF, and CNAME DNS records in cPanel to point to your domain.

<Note>
  * For information about how to update MX records in cPanel, please see [this article](/docs/mail-exchanger-mx-record-entry).

  * For information about how to update SPF (Sender Policy Framework) records in cPanel, please see [this article](/docs/managing-e-mail-deliverability-settings).

  * For information about how to use the Zone Editor in cPanel to update DNS records, please see [this article](/docs/using-the-cpanel-zone-editor).
</Note>

5. Wait a few hours for DNS propagation to complete.

6. Configure the newly-created email accounts in Microsoft Outlook:

* For information about how to configure Outlook on iOS, please see [this article](/docs/setting-up-microsoft-outlook-on-ios).

7. If you did not back up your existing email messages in step 1, you are done. If you did back up your existing messages, restore them using the *.pst* file you created in step 1. To do this, follow these steps:

* Start Outlook.

* On the **File** menu, click **Open & Export**, and then click **Import/Export**.

* Click **Import from another program or file**, and then click **Next**.

* Click **Outlook Data File (.pst)**, and then click **Next**.

* Click **Browse**, select the *.pst* file, and then click **Open**.

* Select how you want to handle duplicate data during the import process, and then click **Next**.

* Select the import settings, and then click **Finish**. Outlook imports the data from the *.pst* file.
