# Ordering a dedicated IP address

This article describes how to obtain a dedicated IP address for your hosting account.

A dedicated IP address is a unique [Internet Protocol](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Protocol_version_4) address assigned exclusively to your web hosting account. Dedicated IP addresses enable you to do more with your server, like hosting your own SSL certificate or maintaining performance if you have a high traffic website.

## How to order a dedicated IP address

To order a dedicated IP address for your account, please open a ticket on the Hosting Panel at [https://my.hosting.com](https://my.hosting.com).

  **Important**

  If you have multiple hosting packages, make sure you specify which one you want to have the new dedicated IP address.
