If your computer runs the Linux or BSD operating systems, you can use the following programs to access your Web Disks depending on which desktop environment you use:
  • GNOME: You can use the Nautilus file manager.
  • KDE: You can use the Konqueror browser or Dolphin file manager.
  • If you are using another desktop environment, consult its documentation.

Accessing a Web Disk using the Nautilus file manager

To access a Web Disk using the Nautilus file manager in GNOME, follow these steps:
  1. Start Nautilus.
  2. Click the Go menu, and then click Location.
    👍 Tip Alternatively, you can press CTRL+L to access the location bar.
  3. Choose whether to use an unencrypted (cleartext) connection or an encrypted (SSL) connection:
    • To connect to the Web Disk using an unencrypted (cleartext) connection, use the following URL: dav://example.com:2077 Replace example.com with your web site’s domain name. Copy the modified URL, paste it into the location bar, and then press ENTER.
    • To connect to the Web Disk using an encrypted (SSL) connection, use the following URL: davs://example.com:2078 Replace example.com with the domain name that your web site uses for SSL connections. Copy the modified URL, paste it into the location bar, and then press ENTER.

  4. Type the username and password for the Web Disk account. The Web Disk home directory appears in Nautilus.
  5. For easy access to the Web Disk, click the Bookmarks menu, and then click Add Bookmark.

Accessing a Web Disk account using the Konqueror browser or Dolphin file manager

To access a Web Disk account using the Konqueror browser or Dolphin file manager in KDE, follow these steps:
  1. Start Konqueror or Dolphin.
  2. Choose whether to use an unencrypted (cleartext) connection or an encrypted (SSL) connection:
    • To connect to the Web Disk using an unencrypted (cleartext) connection, use the following URL: webdav://example.com:2077 Replace example.com with your web site’s domain name. Copy the modified URL, paste it into the address bar, and then press ENTER.
    • To connect to the Web Disk using an encrypted (SSL) connection, use the following URL: webdavs://example.com:2078 Replace example.com with the domain name that your web site uses for SSL connections. Copy the modified URL, paste it into the address bar, and then press ENTER.

  3. Type the username and password for the Web Disk account. The Web Disk home directory appears.
