About Anycast
Anycast is a network routing method where the same IP address is announced from many locations at once, and a visitor’s DNS query is answered by whichever location is closest to them. In practice that gives you:- Faster DNS lookups, because queries are answered near the visitor rather than from a single region
- Redundancy, because losing one location does not take your DNS offline
- Load balancing, spreading query volume across the network
The nameservers
Point your domain at the standard hosting.com nameservers:
These are the same nameservers for every hosting product, and they are Anycast. For how to set them at your registrar, see Setting the name servers for a domain.
If your registrar asks for nameserver IP addresses rather than names — some do when you register a private or glue-record nameserver — open a support ticket and we will give you the current addresses.
