What is Cloudflare Enterprise and how does it benefit my site?

Learn how Cloudflare Enterprise benefits your Rocket.net Managed WordPress website.

What is Cloudflare Enterprise?

Cloudflare Enterprise is a very special tier offered by Cloudflare for their platform. Cloudflare Enterprise usually starts at $6,000 a month per domain, but at Rocket.net we’re able to bundle it with every site on our platform at no additional cost.

Is there a difference between Enterprise and Free Cloudflare?

Yes! In fact it’s such a drastic difference that it’s almost a completely different platform. Our Enterprise account benefits from the following features that don’t come with the Free, Pro, or Business tiers:

  • Premium routing on all 250+ PoPs (Points of Presence).
  • Priority routing of all requests on Cloudflare’s platform.
  • Larger upload size limits.
  • Argo Smart Routing with tiered caching to ensure maximum cache hits.
  • Full page caching with cookie bypass to support dynamic sites like WooCommerce.
  • Cloudflare Polish to compress images and convert them to the WebP format on the fly.
  • Detailed CDN and WAF reporting.

The biggest benefit is definitely the premium routing and connectivity on all Cloudflare PoPs (Points of Presence). It’s not talked about widely, but the Free and lower tier Paid plans on Cloudflare do not include premium PoPs like Australia, India, and several other locations.

Thanks to having access to these premium locations, we’re able to provide a global TTFB (Time to First Byte) between 50 and 70ms.

What does Cloudflare Enterprise do for me?

With Rocket.net Managed WordPress and Cloudflare Enterprise, your WordPress site is delivered as close as physically possible to your visitors, while also keeping it secure with the Cloudflare Web Application Firewall.

For example, if you go to https://www.cloudflare.com/network/ you’ll see the Cloudflare PoP closest to you. Thanks to our configuration and partnership with Cloudflare, your WordPress site will be delivered from that same location versus having to always traverse back to a single server.

We also have several settings in place on Cloudflare to provide the following performance benefits:

  • HTTP/2 and HTTP/3 support to help accelerate asset delivery.
  • Brotli compression to reduce the size of your WordPress site.
  • Custom cache tags to provide the highest possible cache hit ratio.
  • On the fly lossless image compression reducing sizes by 50% to 80%.
  • Automated WebP conversion to increase Google Pagespeed scores and improve user experience.
  • Google Font proxying to serve fonts from your domain reducing DNS lookups and improving load times
  • Argo Smart Routing to decrease cache misses and improve dynamic request routing by 26%+.
  • Tiered caching enables Cloudflare to refer to its own network of PoPs before declaring a cache miss, reducing the load on WordPress and increasing speed.

Will my site look the same?

Rocket.net and Cloudflare never modify the content of your WordPress site. We leave all content optimizations up to the WordPress user, as there are a wide variety of plugins on the market and we feel it is best for our customers to own that experience.

Does Cloudflare Enterprise replace the need for caching plugins?

Cloudflare Enterprise, with all of the features mentioned, will make huge impacts to Google Pagespeed scores and just as importantly, the overall user experience. Your site will still benefit from a cache plugin such as WP-Rocket. This ensures that cache misses and dynamic content are served as quickly as possible and optimize the actual content on your website.
