Displaying and downloading log files in Joomla

Learn how to view and download backend log files from the dashboard. This article shows you how to install the ochLogFiles plugin and use it to download and view log files.

OchLogFiles is a component that allows you to have the log files available from the Joomla backend; when you click on the file, this component will display the log file that you have selected. Joomla log files have important information about your Joomla powered website. The logs files help developers in debugging process and maintenance checks.

Installing ochLogFiles to view Joomla backend log files

To install and configure ochLogFiles on your website powered by Joomla, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Joomla site with an administrator account.

  2. On the top menu bar, click Extensions, click Manage, and then click Install.

  3. Select "Install from Web" tab, search for "ochLogFiles":

If the Install option on the module does not work, click Directory Listing. This will take you to the module page. Download the extension to your computer. Then click the Upload Package File tab. Upload the extension file from your drive. This will upload and install the module.
