Optimizing WordPress with the WP Rocket plugin
Optimize your WordPress site with the WP Rocket plugin! With the hosting.com and WP Rocket partnership, you can purchase WP Rocket at a discounted price and enjoy a faster WordPress site.
With the WP Rocket plugin, you can enable caching and many other optimizations to speed up your WordPress site. And through the hosting.com and WP Rocket partnership, you can purchase WP Rocket at a discounted price.
As site traffic increases and you add additional content, your site may begin to slow down. This is because WordPress has to recompile a page every time a visitor accesses it. WP Rocket's caching and additional optimizations reduce the amount of work WordPress needs to do for each page load, which in turn increases your site's overall performance and speed.
Ordering WP Rocket
To order WP Rocket, follow these steps:
-
Log in to the Hosting Panel at https://my.hosting.com.
-
Place an order for WP Rocket. During the ordering process, select the domain you want to use with WP Rocket.
Note
Each license is for one domain, so you cannot use it for multiple domains. You must purchase additional licenses for additional domains.
-
After the order is complete, you receive an email that contains a URL where you can download the WP Rocket installation zip file.
Note
The WP Rocket installation zip file also contains the license.
-
Install WP Rocket on your WordPress site. For detailed instructions about how to do this, go to the next section.
Installing WP Rocket
Important
You must install WordPress on your site before you can install the WP Rocket plugin.
If you have not already done so, download the WP Rocket installation zip file to your local computer using the URL provided in the order confirmation email.
Even if you already have WP Rocket installed on your WordPress site, you must re-install it using our installation zip file. Doing this ensures you have the correct license.
WP Rocket is incompatible with other caching plugins like WP Super Cache and W3 Total Cache. If you have another caching plugin installed, you must deactivate it before you activate WP Rocket for your site.
To install WP Rocket, follow these steps:
-
Log in to your WordPress site as the administrator.
-
In the left-hand pane, click Plugins.
-
Click Add New.
-
Click Upload Plugin.
-
Click Browse, select the zip file on your local computer, and then click Open.
-
Click Install Now.
Note
If you already have WP Rocket installed on your site, click Replace current with uploaded.
-
After WordPress finishes installing the plugin, click Activate Plugin.
Note
After WordPress activates the plugin, WP Rocket validates the license and displays your key.
Configuring WP Rocket
After you install and activate the WP Rocket plugin, it enables the following features:
-
Page caching.
-
Gzip compression.
-
HTTP header management.
-
Image optimization.
These optimizations alone can significantly improve site performance, so additional configuration is often unnecessary. However, if you want to enable additional optimizations (such as CSS and JavaScript minification), or customize WP Rocket settings for your site, follow these steps:
-
Log in to your WordPress site as the administrator.
-
In the left-hand pane, click Settings, and then click WP Rocket.
-
Select the settings you want, and then click Save Changes.
