Are any WordPress plugins or themes banned on Rocket.net Managed WordPress?

We have found that almost any WordPress plugin or theme you can find will work on our Managed WordPress platform. For example, we often suggest W3 Total Cache or WP Rocket for caching plugins. For some customers, minification plugins work well, and for some they do not.

We strongly recommend doing plenty of testing to make sure that you are using plugins that work well for your site specifically, as these can vary from site to site.

While we do not have a hard ban on any plugins, there are some plugins that may need to be disabled or removed if they cause any negative impact on our infrastructure. So far, this list includes:

We do not remove plugins arbitrarily, but if we discover a plugin is causing issues we will disable it immediately. We may also request you remove it permanently.

Plugins from other hosts

While we haven’t had any specific trouble, some hosts (such as HostGator, Bluehost, Kinsta, and others) have their own WordPress plugins that are designed to work on their platform specifically. This is normal, and we have something similar. If you migrate a site from another host, be sure that it doesn’t have any host-specific plugins installed, as they often negatively impact the performance and function of WordPress outside of their native environment.

Nulled plugins and themes

It may seem tempting to use the "free" version of an otherwise premium plugin. There are many places online where such software is provided at no cost and is often listed as "Nulled" or even "Open Source" but the truth of the matter is that these are illegal copies of premium plugins. Such "free" copies are rarely free. Most of the time they are bundled with malware that is designed to use your site and resources to benefit the person who distributed it.

For this reason, any nulled, "free" or otherwise modified premium plugins and themes that are distributed outside of the original author’s distribution channels are forbidden on Rocket.net Managed WordPress.
